Acetylcysteine

Acetylcysteine is a medication used to treat acetaminophen (paracetamol) overdose and to loosen thick mucus in respiratory conditions like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and cystic fibrosis. It works by replenishing levels of glutathione, a vital antioxidant, and breaking down mucus, making it easier to expel. It can be administered orally or intravenously.
